About us
Established in 2015 in Shreveport in the halls of Media Star. Shawn Mitchell, Brett Havener, Chase Barnhill, Mike Sullivan, and Trey Pate set out to create new balanced heavy music with hooks, message, and groove from the ashes of My Own Legion. While recording their first self titled EP Trey Pate left to pursue other interests. Enter Luke Melancon to help finish the EP and establish a new sound.
Mike Sullivan left shortly after the EPs release to take care of family obligations. Enter Starrbuck Langley further establishing a brand new signature sound on Bass. In support of the EP Nuwma was playing heavily while writing the LP (Progress) when things took an unexpected turn. The drummer Chase Barnhill had to sadly leave to stunt double for Jason Statham and to take care of his family. After tiredly searching enters Colby Savoy. Colby exited the band in 2020 due to obligations due to his service in the US Airforce. 2021 enter percussion engineer Rickey Vanveckhoven behind the drums. Since it’s inception Nuwma have released 3 EPs
